(a) to (e) : Government of India launched Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) in April, 2005 for creation of Rural Electricity Infrastructure & Household Electrification and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) in December, 2014 for various rural electrification works including separation of agriculture and non-agriculture feeders, strengthening and augmentation of sub-transmission & distribution infrastructure, metering at distribution transformers/feeders/consumers and electrification of villages & households across the country. The erstwhile RGGVY was subsumed in DDUGJY as RE component.
In addition to development and strengthening of sub-transmission and distribution network in rural areas, the schemes had provision of providing free electricity connection to Below Poverty Line (BPL) household. Cumulatively, under DDUGJY including RE component, free electricity service connections to 3.45 crore households were released upto 31.03.2019. The State-wise and Year-wise release of free electricity connections to BPL households, is at Annexure.
Government of India launched Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana – SAUBHAGYA in October, 2017 for universal household electrification by providing last mile connectivity and electricity connections to all households in rural and all poor households in urban areas across the country. All States declared electrification of all households on Saubhagya portal, except 18,734 households in LWE affected areas of Chhattisgarh as on 31 March, 2019. Since the launch of Saubhagya scheme, 2.63 crore households were electrified across the country upto 31.03.2019.
Under DDUGJY, an amount of Rs.15190.87 crore has been sanctioned by the Government of India for separation of agriculture and non-agriculture feeders to facilitate judicious rostering of power supply to agricultural & non- agricultural consumers in the rural areas. This will help States to provide adequate supply of electricity to the farmers in rural areas.
